With him and his wife having taken a few punts on drinks ventures, it appears Jay-Z is still eager to build on his collection of food and drink brands. Just this week, it was revealed that the American rapper has applied for a trademark. Wanting to take his Hovino idea forward, Jay-Z plans to launch another drinks chain; but how will it fair against competition?

The music mogul will reportedly enter the hospitality industry, opening a business that offers “restaurant and café services; carry-out restaurant services; restaurant services; self-service restaurants; cafes; café-restaurants; catering; serving food and drinks; take-out restaurant services; bar services, pubs; cocktail lounges; wine bars.”
Applied under the S.Carter Enterprises umbrella, the business is simply the latest  in a flourishing portfolio. Already the proud owner of the 40/40 bar chain in New York as well as Champagne Armand de Brignac, Jay-Z’ further presence in the hospitality sector will be very much welcomed.

Whilst a trademark decision is yet to be arrived at regarding Hovino, this is not the only legal battle Jay-Z finds himself in. Becoming a father to Blue Ivy black in 2012, he and superstar wife, Beyoncé, have tried numerous times to trademark her name. However, with an events company already owning the rights to the name, they have so far been unsuccessful.
