It has been a whirlwind of the month for Scottish beer-makers, Brewdog. Having raised millions of pounds of investment through their ‘Equity for Punks’ crowdfunding campaign, the brand is in an exciting time of expansion. With a mission to become a world pioneer in beer, the business has come on leaps and bounds, turning from a humble craft beer creator into an internationally-acclaimed drinks brand. Just last month BrewDog announced it was planning to launch the world’s first beer hotel; DogHouse. From beer fridges in the shower to taps in the bedroom, it sounds well and truly unique.

This week, BrewDog has another update for us, announcing that they will be setting up shop in Edinburgh Airport. Now existing as the city’s largest independent brewer, the airport is happy to have one of their own selling produce. Scheduled to open this summer, the bar will sell stock from its Aberdeen brewery as well as craft beers from around the world. In addition, the bar will serve food. This is just one development in the airport’s 80 million expansion project.

Graeme Hamilton, Head of Retail Partnerships at BrewDog added:

“This is an exceptionally exciting new adventure for us as we seek to introduce even more people to the incredible world of craft beer.

“Airports have always been high on our hit list for extending our bar division, and we’re looking forward to welcoming Edinburgh’s travellers to our first ever airport venue.”

Edinburgh Airport Chief Executive, Gordon Dewa,  is equally as thrilled to see BrewDog at the airport.

“We’re a modern airport that wants to offer our passengers a taste of modern Scotland and working with one of the country’s most successful breweries certainly does that.

“BrewDog and Edinburgh Airport are both worldwide names so this is a fantastic partnership and we’re delighted to be the first airport in the world to be home to a BrewDog bar.

“Variety and choice for passengers are at the heart of our strategy and BrewDog adds to the already wide range of facilities we have at Scotland’s busiest airport.”
