As mentioned in a previous blog, ‘hybrid drinks’ are making their way across the globe.
A hybrid drink is created by two separate drinks being distilled or brewed together. The UK has seen some of the drinks industry’s biggest names jumping on the bandwagon. Just this week, two drinks heavyweights, Jim Beam and Budweiser, have joined forces to launch Budweiser Reserve Copper Lager. Expected to be vastly popular across the US, this has been released just in time for the US baseball season.
The drink is brewed using two-row barley and aged on Jim Beam Bourbon barrel staves, promising a unique drinking experience. Offering ‘toasted oak notes’ and a slight nuttiness, the drink offers notes of caramel and vanilla.
Not the first of its kind
Whilst something different to sit in the beer fridge, this is not the first collaboration of its kind. Jamesons released a crossover mixture in December; something they called the ‘Jameson Caskmates IPA Edition’; created using a triple-distilled whiskey finished in IPA barrels.
Sources say the two drinks companies will now embark on a huge advertising campaign together. both brands can expect further brand recognition, having their names stood side-by-side across America and the rest of the world.
It is worth noting that these crossover drinks products are something we at Urban Spirit are seeing more calls for. From customers requesting hybrid drinks products to requesting we create two-element cocktails, experimentation continues to stand the forefront of the bar hire industry.
